The Holy Spirit wants to take us on a journey of deconstruction. He wants to reason with us. (His reason is the basis for spiritual vision. Spiritual vision has nothing to do with physical sight. It has to do with sense, understanding and reason.) He wants to show us how and why we made things up. When we see what is really happening and the purpose it is being used for (sin) we will choose against it.

But first we must acknowledge that we do not know what in the hell is going on because we have forgotten. We are lost in a convoluted thought system and cannot of ourselves escape. Secondly, even if we don’t remember doing it, we must acknowledge that we have done this thing and it is this we would undo. We made up the whole thing and made it seem like our reality by believing in it.

No one asleep and dreaming in the world remembers his attack upon himself. No one believes there really was a time when he knew nothing of a body, and could never have conceived this world as real. He would have seen at once that these ideas are one illusion, too ridiculous for anything but to be laughed away. How serious they now appear to be! And no one can remember when they would have met with laughter and with disbelief. We can remember this, if we but look directly at their cause. And we will see the grounds for laughter, not a cause for fear. (T-27.VIII.5:4-10)

The mind can make the belief in separation very real and very fearful, and this belief is the “devil.” It is powerful, active, destructive and clearly in opposition to God, because it literally denies His Fatherhood. Look at your life and see what the devil has made. But realize that this making will surely dissolve in the light of truth, because its foundation is a lie. Your creation by God is the only Foundation that cannot be shaken, because the light is in it. Your starting point is truth, and you must return to your Beginning. Much has been seen since then, but nothing has really happened. Your Self is still in peace, even though your mind is in conflict. You have not yet gone back far enough, and that is why you become so fearful. As you approach the Beginning, you feel the fear of the destruction of your thought system upon you as if it were the fear of death. There is no death, but there is a belief in death. (T-3.VII.5:1-11)

The ego therefore opposes all appreciation, all recognition, all sane perception and all knowledge. It perceives their threat as total, because it senses that all commitments the mind makes are total. Forced, therefore, to detach itself from you, it is willing to attach itself to anything else. But there is nothing else. The mind can, however, make up illusions, and if it does so it will believe in them, because that is how it made them. (T-7.VI.5:1-5)

What if you recognized this world is an hallucination? What if you really understood you made it up? What if you realized that those who seem to walk about in it, to sin and die, attack and murder and destroy themselves, are wholly unreal? Could you have faith in what you see, if you accepted this? And would you see it? (T-20.VIII.7:3-7)

Holy Spirit I am willing to see clearly. I am willing to realize all that I have made (the world, the personality self and the body) is not real. I want to see the forgiven world and the forgiven self. Show me how I made all of this and why. I know nothing. I want the truth because it is true.

The Holy Spirit takes you gently by the hand, and retraces with you your mad journey outside yourself, leading you gently back to the truth and safety within. He brings all your insane projections and the wild substitutions that you have placed outside you to the truth. Thus He reverses the course of insanity and restores you to reason. (T-18.I.8:3-5)

The real world is attained simply by the complete forgiveness of the old, the world you see without forgiveness. The great Transformer of perception will undertake with you the careful searching of the mind that made this world, and uncover to you the seeming reasons for your making it. In the light of the real reason that He brings, as you follow Him, He will show you that there is no reason here at all. (T-17.II.5:1-4)

Are we willing to be taught how and why we made the world, the personality self and the body that we might realize their unreality? Are we willing to stand in the humbled place of not knowing that we might be taught? Are we willing to put all of our faith and trust in the unseen, in the Holy Spirit and believe with Him despite what our physical senses, emotions and made-up personalities selves are “telling us” is “true”?

You believe that what your physical eyes cannot see does not exist. This leads to a denial of spiritual sight. (T-1.I.22:2-3)

The ear translates; it does not hear. The eye reproduces; it does not see. (P-2.VI.3:1-2)

It is difficult for the untrained mind to believe that what it seems to picture is not there. (W-9.2:1) (Unless we are in the world believing that what we are picturing is not there, our mind is yet untrained.)

No one really sees anything. He sees only his thoughts projected outward. (W-8.1:2-3)

To be told that what you do not see is there sounds like insanity. It is very difficult to become convinced that it is insanity not to see what is there, and to see what is not there instead. You do not doubt that the body’s eyes can see. You do not doubt the images they show you are reality. Your faith lies in the darkness, not the light. How can this be reversed? For you it is impossible, but you are not alone in this. (W-91.3:1-7)
