Make A You Turn
My father was a schemer. A brilliant man, an incredibly hard worker, an organizer, a visionary and very kind, in a help the needy sort of way. He wanted the world to be a better place. He was also from a violent home, abused and berated, emotionally damaged and psychologically unstable.
All of these elements, lines of code in his programming, determined his life. He would never change the world. He would never right any social injustice. He would never support the disadvantaged to rise out of poverty. He would never have a loving and stable relationship or family. He would never be financially successful. He had exactly the same goals his father had had, and he ended up exactly like his father. Suffering from dementia, alone, broke and finally dead.
My father saw, a spark of light, the possibility of change. He wanted to make it a reality. But what he did not know, was that the world is only a reflection of our own programming. He had a disadvantaged, weak, loser, loner, victim (in that he could not impact his environment), guilty, deserving of punishment, unlovable, unstable program running. And it was this program, this thinking, that determined the course and elements of his life.
He tried endlessly to change his environment, the product of his thinking. Endless schemes trying to support the weak, endless schemes for a better relationship and family and endless schemes to make money. The darkness of his programming became the darkness of his world. He lay there asleep, as his programming made the nightmare of his life. He impotently tried to effect the results of his thinking, his world and its elements, instead of the cause, his own programming. He wanted change, but he never addressed the real block to change, his programming, his own thinking.
We are all victims, prisoners. But we are not victims and prisoners of the world or any external force. We are victims of our own and prisoners to our own thinking and programming. We lay asleep in the prison cells of our mind, seeming victims to our environment and our jailers, as we watch the nightmare of our life, of the world, play out before us. Recurring patterns that have a variety of story lines, apparently different, all generated by the same ancient program. The same program that has been running, in some form, well, probably forever.
My father saw a dark world. He also saw a spark of light The possibility of finding that spark and using it to light a whole world with love was his calling. He went in search of that light, but every step he took led him further into the darkness. The spark that he thought was off in the distance, was nowhere to be found. Undaunted, he trekked, endlessly, tirelessly, trudging forward until the “end”.
What my father did not realize was that the light of love, the spark that could change the world, that he was searching for, was in the last place he would ever think to look. After all, why would you ever look for the light of love in a pile of crap? In a hated, undeserving, guilty, vile, despicable, loser, unlovable, weak pile of crap? My father believed his programming, and because we see what we believe, he was blind to the spark. Inside himself, past the heavy fog of thinking and programming, was the thing he had seen, in a flash of awakening, the possibility of change, the call of his heart, the light of love.
The road to real change leads in. We are not victims. We are creators and our creations are determined by our thinking. I think therefore I am. Look out and see what you are creating. Your thinking is responsible for whatever you see. Do you want to change what you see? Then stop trying to vainly change the external. Stop with your endless plans and schemes. No wonder you feel frustrated and tired. How completely dispiriting and depressing to be playing a game you can never win. You can never win the change game if you are focused out. You will be forever trying to change the effect and not the cause.
Stop. MAKE A YOU TURN. Go in. With your goal in mind and your feet firmly placed on the road to change, begin the process of shining light on all of your programming, your thinking. As your thinking changes, you will begin to see the nightmare being transformed into your dreams come true.
The road to change, through the fog of our programming, can be treacherous and daunting. Whatever your personal goals, we have a larger communal goal. Our joint programming, our joint thinking is responsible for the nightmare of the world. If we travel together, on a journey of change, to reclaim the light of love that we are,we can bring Heaven to earth. That is the ultimate change, the ultimate possibility.
Hope is the possibility of change. Make it a reality.
Change yourself. Make a you turn.
You will undertake a journey because you are not at home in this world. And you will search for your home whether you realize where it is or not. If you believe it is outside you the search will be futile, for you will be seeking it where it is not. You do not remember how to look within for you do not believe your home is there. Yet the Holy Spirit remembers it for you, and He will guide you to your home because that is His mission. As He fulfills His mission He will teach you yours, for your mission is the same as His. By guiding your brothers home you are but following Him.
