The script is written is not talking about the ego stories we seem to experience in the dream. Why in the world would I sit with Jesus and review the endless stories the ego made up, that we choose to believe are real, that are all just an endless rehash of the separation story? Jesus is talking about salvation’s script that the Holy Spirit wrote, not the ego’s vain imaginings.

We merely take the part assigned long since, and fully recognized as perfectly fulfilled by Him Who wrote salvation’s script in His Creator’s Name, and in the Name of His Creator’s Son. (W-169.9:3)

The following quote is a description of what happens with the ego’s stories that seem to shift and change with no rhyme or reason.

Time is a trick, a sleight of hand, a vast illusion in which figures come and go as if by magic. (W-158.4:1-2)

The next quote is about something that is solid, certain and does not change. It is behind the appearance of the shifting story lines of the world that you see with your physical eyes.

Yet there is a plan behind appearances that does not change. (W-158.4:2)

The Holy Spirit’s script of salvation is written. Not the script of the ego’s tales of death and destruction.

The script is written. (W-158.4:3)

We actually keep writing the ego’s script all over the Holy Spirit’s script trying to obliterate it.

What is meaningless is neither good nor bad. Why, then, should a meaningless world upset you? If you could accept the world as meaningless and let the truth be written upon it for you, it would make you indescribably happy. But because it is meaningless, you are impelled to write upon it what you would have it be. It is this you see in it. It is this that is meaningless in truth. Beneath your words is written the Word of God. The truth upsets you now, but when your words have been erased, you will see His. (W-12.5:1-8)

We are reviewing the script of salvation. Not the ego’s nightmares.

When experience will come to end your doubting has been set. For we but see the journey from the point at which it ended, looking back on it, imagining we make it once again; reviewing mentally what has gone by. (W158.4:1-5)

Now back to our original quote.

We merely take the part assigned long since, and fully recognized as perfectly fulfilled by Him Who wrote salvation’s script in His Creator’s Name, and in the Name of His Creator’s Son. (W-169.9:3)

It is followed by…

There is no need to further clarify what NO ONE in the world can understand. (W-169.10:1)

Then Jesus says you will understand it, at the end of your journey, when your oneness is revealed to you. This refers to the concept in the Course that says your mistakes must be corrected but what you really are, that the mistakes were meant to hide, must be revealed to you.

When revelation of your oneness comes, it will be known and fully understood. (W-169.10:2)

In time we have work to do. We can talk about things beyond time. And listen to words that explain what is to come is past already. Like the words – The script is written.

Now we have work to do, for those in time can speak of things beyond, and listen to words which explain what is to come is past already. (W-169.10:3-4)

You do not understand those words on the level you are at.

Yet what meaning can the words convey to those who count the hours still, and rise and work and go to sleep by them? (W-169.10:4)

Concentrate on your work and your part.

Suffice it, then, that you have work to do to play your part. The ending must remain obscure to you until your part is done. It does not matter. For your part is still what all the rest depends on. As you take the role assigned to you, salvation comes a little nearer each uncertain heart that does not beat as yet in tune with God. (W-169.11:1-5)

We cannot understand the salvation’s script is written concept. It is a God level concept that is understood at the top of the ladder. When you use God level concepts at the lower rungs of the ladder of awareness, you are mixing levels. If you were learning your addition tables, 1 + 1 = 2, and you kept repeating some physics principle, over and over, it would not change the fact that you have to learn everything that leads up to physics, all the underlying principles, to learn physics.

The script is written does not mean that you already made choices in the story, and you just sit around and review them with Jesus. It does not mean that you cannot change the story. I have done this thing and it is this I would undo. Change your mind and change the world. Heal the mind and the body will be healed. The ego is making up stories. We gave the ego the power to do that. We can take that power back and give it to the Holy Spirit. That is going to take a lot of mind training.

We do not make choices in the story. We “live” in a world the ego mind made up, a simulation. We, as mind, made up avatars that we think we are. Then we made up stories that reflect the separation story. They are made of fear. They have one purpose; to make guilt seem real. The ego mind, outside of time and space, directs the body telling it what to do, say, feel and think. It decides everything that seems to happen to the body. The mind decides, “Hey now the avatar is going to “experience” a new sickness. And then the avatar is going to be in a quandary about what to do. And then the avatar is going to think it makes a decision. Next the avatar…” We are like Neo in the pod. Are any of those things being piped into his mind really happening?

In the ego’s hands an endless melodrama, ending in seeming death, seems to play out. If we turn the whole process over to the Holy Spirit, we dream of a journey home to God. But you cannot turn the whole process over, and rise above the battleground, if you do not get that the illusion has NOTHING to offer. This is because only the you that gets that could turn it over. The you you think you are is too attached to it to be able to give it over. It is not nothing to that self.

Jesus says give me your body and your ego (personality self) and I would add your stories so that you can learn their unimportance and be free of them. They are imprisoning you. They are chains that bind you.

I can be entrusted with your body and your ego only because this enables you not to be concerned with them, and lets me teach you their unimportance. I could not understand their importance to you if I had not once been tempted to believe in them myself. Let us undertake to learn this lesson together so we can be free of them together. I need devoted teachers who share my aim of healing the mind. (T-4.I.13:4-7)

Our job is to empty ourselves of all our unforgiving thoughts, all our miscreations, and all our ego projections so that Jesus can use us in the plan. We become an empty shell that can be filled by the Holy Spirit.

The idea for today reaffirms your commitment to salvation. It also reminds you that you have no function other than that. Both these thoughts are obviously necessary for a total commitment. Salvation cannot be the only purpose you hold while you still cherish others. The full acceptance of salvation as your only function necessarily entails two phases; the recognition of salvation as your function, and the relinquishment of all the other goals you have invented for yourself.

This is the only way in which you can take your rightful place among the saviors of the world. This is the only way in which you can say and mean, “My only function is the one God gave me.” This is the only way in which you can find peace of mind. (W-65.1:1–2:3)

Jesus can complete the Atonement through us if we do our part.

I have said before that I am in charge of the Atonement. This is only because I completed my part in it as a man, and can now complete it through others. (T-4.VI.6:5-6)
