Unlocking the meaning of the following quote…
God and His creations remain in surety, and therefore know that no miscreation exists. Truth cannot deal with errors that you want. I was a man who remembered spirit and its knowledge. As a man I did not attempt to counteract error with knowledge, but to correct error from the bottom up. (T-3.IV.7:1-4)
God and His creations remain in surety, and therefore know that no miscreation exists. (T-3.IV.7:1)
You, as the Son of God, know that illusions do not exist.
Truth cannot deal with errors that you want. (T-3.IV.7:2-3)
Saying a truth such as I am the Son of God, which is the truth, cannot deal with errors or miscreations that you want, desire or value. If you want to believe those miscreations, those errors are real, there is no citing of the truth that can change their seeming reality.
We made illusions, the separation, by our denial of truth.
Denial of error is a strong defense of truth, but denial of truth results in miscreation, the projections of the ego. (T-2.II.2:5)
Then we made the separation “real” by our belief in it and by adding our faith to it or our wanting to it.
I would not allow my mind to be deceived by the belief the dream I made is real an instant longer. (W-290.1:5)
I was a man who remembered spirit and its knowledge. (T-3.IV.7:3)
How do we remember spirit? We stop denying the truth and we stop making the unreal real by believing and desiring it. Jesus coaches us to do the following…
Offer the Holy Spirit only your willingness to remember… (T-10.II.2:3)
Give up gladly everything that would stand in the way of your remembering… (T-10.II.2:4)
Let nothing in this world delay your remembering of Him… (T-10.II.2:6)
So the way home is…
1. Offer the Holy Spirit only the willingness to remember. Later, willingness becomes qualified with the adjectives active, perfect and total. As with much of the Course, it starts out asking a little, as in “Ask the Holy Spirit whenever it is convenient,” which eventually turns into , “Ask the Holy Spirit everything.”
Our next few lessons make a special point of firming up your willingness to make your weak commitment strong; your scattered goals blend into one intent. You are not asked for total dedication all the time as yet. But you are asked to practice now in order to attain the sense of peace such unified commitment will bestow, if only intermittently. It is experiencing this that makes it sure that you will give your total willingness to following the way the course sets forth. (W-in.181-200.1:1-4)
2. Give up gladly everything that would stand in the way of your remembering. This would mean all of our miscreations and our belief and faith in them.
It is obvious, then, that inducing the mind to give up its miscreations is the only application of creative ability that is truly meaningful. (T-2.V.1:11)
The great Transformer of perception will undertake with you the careful searching of the mind that made this world, and uncover to you the seeming reasons for your making it. In the light of the real reason that He brings, as you follow Him, He will show you that there is no reason here at all. (T-17.II.5:2-3)
So there is a journey to be taken, where we unearth all our hidden beliefs with the Holy Spirit. In the light of reason, we will be persuaded of their insanity and unreality and stop valuing them.
The only way to dispel illusions is to withdraw all investment from them, and they will have no life for you because you will have put them out of your mind. (T-7.VII.4:4)
What is healing but the removal of all that stands in the way of knowledge? And how else can one dispel illusions (make them vanish) except by looking at them directly, without protecting them? (T-11.V.2:1-2)
And finally…
3. Let nothing delay your remembering of Him.
The basic decision of the miracle-minded is not to wait on time any longer than is necessary. Time can waste as well as be wasted. The miracle worker, therefore, accepts the time-control factor gladly. He recognizes that every collapse of time brings everyone closer to the ultimate release from time, in which the Son and the Father are One. (T-1.V.2:1-5)
Seek not another signpost in the world that seems to point to still another road. No longer look for hope where there is none. Make fast your learning now, and understand you but waste time unless you go beyond what you have learned to what is yet to learn. For from this lowest point will learning lead to heights of happiness, in which you see the purpose of the lesson shining clear, and perfectly within your learning grasp. (T-31.IV.4:5-8)
Jesus further explains about remembering…
To remember is merely to restore to your mind what is already there. You do not make what you remember; you merely accept again what is already there, but was rejected. The ability to accept truth in this world is the perceptual counterpart of creating in the Kingdom. (T-10.II.3:1-3)
So simply put our error was, we rejected truth and embraced lies.
As a man I did not attempt to counteract error with knowledge, but to correct error from the bottom up. (T-3.IV.7:1-4)
Knowledge/God is at the top of the ladder. At the bottom of the ladder, the root of the problem, our error, is our dissociation of reality, our decision to forget Heaven/God/truth and our believing in and desiring the unreal.
By uniting my will with that of my Creator, I naturally remembered spirit and its real purpose. I cannot unite your will with God’s for you, but I can erase all misperceptions from your mind if you will bring it under my guidance. Only your misperceptions stand in your way. Without them your choice is certain. Sane perception induces sane choosing. I cannot choose for you, but I can help you make your own right choice. “Many are called but few are chosen” should be, “All are called but few choose to listen.” Therefore, they do not choose right. The “chosen ones” are merely those who choose right sooner. Right minds can do this now, and they will find rest unto their souls. God knows you only in peace, and this is your reality. (T-3.IV.7:6-16)
A little more clarity to some of these subjects? Joining minds with the purpose of salvation. Nothing better!
